What The Petersfield Society does
The Petersfield Society Activities:
Lecture Programme - at least four lectures a year, with guest speakers presenting a wide range of topics from general interest to the latest burning issues of the day. Free to members. See the Events page for details of upcoming lectures.
AGM - held in May, an insight to the Society's activities during the past year and a look forward to the future. Featuring an open question and answer session and a guest presentation.
The Petersfield Society Awards - An opportunity for members to nominate local projects for the Presidents Owl Award and Certificates of Merit, recognising initiatives deemed to have had a positive impact on the quality of life in the town and the surrounding areas. Newsletter - published three times a year to keep members up to date with the latest news and views.
Current topics of particular interest include:
Petersfield Tomorrow - the Society is taking a leading role in this initiative; an inclusive and proactive project to develop a vision and action plan for the town and the countryside surrounding it. Click to visit the Petersfield Tomorrow website.
Petersfield Design Statement - highlighting the urgent need for a design statement to provide context for future development to ensure the character of the streets and areas adjacent to the town is managed sympathetically.
Blue Plaque Campaign - a joint initiative with the District Heritage Trust to identify and mark buildings of significant architectural and historical interest.
Local Planning Applications - identifying, scrutinising and commenting on local plans which have a major impact on the character of the area, for example proposal to re-develop site in King George Avenue, Petersfield. Click to visit the Planning Application pages.
